The Upper Hunter Shire Council (UHSC) is a major supporter of the Festival of the Fleeces. Their commitment to the Festival includes a sigificant monetary donation, full responsibilty and accountability for the road closure along the Golden Highway (Bettington St) and other in-kind support services. The staff at the UHSC provide a substantial amount of support to the Festival Committe and Members throughout the year.

Incorporating the Merriwa Men’s Shed, the building also contains a plethora of museum pieces that relate back to Merriwa’s farming days.
