Winners will be announced at the festival Opening Night on Friday the 7th June. So be sure to join us for a wonderful night at the Merriwa School of Arts (starting at 6pm). Winners will be published on the website and through social media channels.
Merriwa lies on the border of the Wannaruah and Wiradjuri nation and is said to have been the traditional meeting place for a number of nations.
We wish to pay our respects to our First Nation's elders – past, present and emerging – and honour the important role they play in our history and our community today.
Merriwa's Festival of the Fleeces is a not-for-profit event run by community volunteers and supported by the Upper Hunter Shire Council.
Proceeds from the festival go towards the Merriwa Volunteer Rescue Association and Westpac Rescue Helicopter. These organisations provide a critical service to all who live in and pass through our area.
